1 - The Boat Chale' |
| |
The chalet is made of natural materials that are classically exquisite, especially the elegant teak-wood that is delicately decorated and modified from Krachaeng barge or Chalom barge, all of which came from our Chairman, Mr. Oran Asavaritikul’s own collection. The boat chalet modified from Krachaeng barge is made from teak while the super chalet modified from Chalom barge is made from eucalyptus. Mr. Oran’s secret in building these floating boats is “Only floating chalet that can virtually float in the water shall be recognized as a perfect chalet”. Currently, there is a fleet of over 30 floating chalets and each of them has been beautifully named in relation to the uniqueness and in harmony with the environmentally atmospheric surrounding of each particular chalet. Besides, to adequately meet the growing demand of the hotel style room by tourists, Koh Chang Grand Lagoona has added more chalets into the fleet and among one of them (already added since the New Year 2006) is the 16-room-boat-chalet. |

2 - The Galaxy |
| |
The floating building or floating hotel, The Galaxy, was previously a U.S. landing carrier that had been decommissioned and relieved for auction. Our Chairman, Mr. Oran had assigned a representative to bid for the vessel and found she was still strong and could be served for a few more decades. Hence, he decided to convert her into a floating hotel for use until today.

5 - Chom Varee Boat Chalet
(Already welcoming Miss Universe 2002)
| |
Chom Varee boat chalet formerly a Krachaeng barge, whose age was more than half a century and used to load paddy and rice packed in jute bag which were delivered from rice mill to various places over small canals down to Bangkok through small size water gates, hence, the barge’s dimension is simply 5.50m.width,16-18m.length and 2m.depth |
| |
Owing to personal fondness in boats and interest in collecting them by blood, as well as admiration of antiquity and of Thai intelligence, Mr. Oran Asavarithikul, our Chairman, has acquired many Krachaeng barge from Ayudhaya and converted them to boat chalets. It took over a year to design a new structure with teak-wood and fully furnished them into a classically boat-chalet style. These new teak boat chalets with casement window, hat –shape- roof etc., are regarded as a long-term conservation method which can rarely find these days. |
| |
Additionally, after tugging them from Ayudhya down to Rama IX shipyard in Bangkok (owned by Mr. Oran Asavarithikul in Rama IX Road) for conversion, Chom Varee boat chalets were then loaded on sea horse ship and sailed off for a few days to Koh Chang Grand Lagoona wherethey are located today. The whole expenses cost is approximately Baht 1.4million per vessel. |
